Story

My Blessed Life

Hi name is Linda Flores Alcantara I’m 32 years old. I am the youngest of two siblings. I have an older brother and an older sister. I was born July 19 1991 in the beautiful city called San Francisco California ... I was born with Apert syndrome. I have over 20 plus surgeries from head to toes. When I was born the doctors told my mom that I wasn’t going to be able to talk or walk. BUT thankfully to my mom she made me walk with the help of an aunt that lived in Mexico. My aunt gave her the idea of cutting thin blankets round my hips. My mom and my older sis would take wrap sheets of thin blankets around my waist to help me walk.

Connect With Speakers and Advocates

CCA's Speakers' Bureau connects you with a trained speaker who can present to your classroom, corporate event, or civic group - sharing a firsthand perspective on life with a craniofacial difference.

Connect With Others

Meeting Other People Like You

Many people with facial differences, or caregivers of a child with a craniofacial condition, feel isolated and alone. CCA believes the best antidote is connection.

Family Networking
Family members are connected with others in similar situations to share emotional support, discuss problems, and identify resources. Being able to communicate with other parents, siblings, or patients helps you feel part of a larger community.
Regional Events
CCA hosts Regional Events and Craniofacial Acceptance Month Gatherings throughout the year - bringing families together in their local communities for in-person connection and support.
Virtual Support Groups
CCA's Virtual Support Groups connect families across the country by video and phone. A dedicated space to share, listen, and find community wherever you are.

Click on registration or call 800.535.3643 and ask for Rasheera Dopson, Program Director.

Your Story Matters

Share Your CCA Kids Story

Stories change hearts and minds. They help newly diagnosed families feel less alone - and help donors understand the real impact of their giving. Your story, in your words, matters.

"We've seen how this community transforms people. The Retreat isn't just a vacation - it's the moment a child realizes they're not alone in the world. We'll fund that for as long as we can."

  • You control how much you share - full story, short quote, or photo only

  • Our team will follow up within 5-7 business days

  • All submissions reviewed before publishing and we'll send you a consent form
