My Blessed Life

Hi name is Linda Flores Alcantara I’m 32 years old. I am the youngest of two siblings. I have anolder brother and an older sister. I was born July 19 1991 in the beautiful city called SanFrancisco California ... I was born with Apert syndrome. I have over 20 plus surgeries from headto toes. When I was born the doctors told my mom that I wasn’t going to be able to talk or walk.BUT thankfully to my mom she made me walk with the help of an aunt that lived in Mexico. Myaunt gave her the idea of cutting thin blankets round my hips. My mom and my older sis wouldtake wrap sheets of thin blankets around my waist to help me walk.

The social worker told mymom and sister that they should ask for a where we could get a speech therapy for me to talk. With my growing I learn that I shouldn’t give up that word doesn’t exist in my head. Thank tomy mom n sister with the help of the therapist they should my how to talk. I would point to theobject and they would say oh do you want juice can you say juice n I would repeat it. I had myfirst surgery about few days after I was born. I have about 22 surgeries counting. Frompreschool to high I was in special day classes.

At the age 20 my mom suggested that I should goto college to get some early childhood education. at the age 27 I graduated with associate degreein early childhood education. I learn to take the bus to school. I got my first job in the samedistrict where I did my hours for college. A year later A principal from the same school Askedme if I would be interested in working as a teacher assistant for special days’ classes. until nowI’m still working with them. Some students get attached to me because I have the love andpatience for them.

One of the parents saw that I had so much care for her son that she asks if Icould take care of him when she needed me. Besides going to work I love going dancing withmy friends. I love going shopping. The states I have known would be Minnesota that’s wheremy cousins live. I move to Tennessee two times. And I travel to Arkansas where my sister lives.
